Friday Favorites ~ Keeping Warm

Linking up with Andrea & Erika for Friday Favorites

I for one am super pumped about this Friday... It's been cold, rainy and just plain meh these past few days AND we have off on Monday! WooHoo ~
Can I get an AMEN for 3 day weekends! I personally feel that ALL weekends should be 3 days long. A 4 day work week and 3 day weekend is a MUCH better ratio! Who's with me!?

Since it's been so cold and yucko ~
I'm going to share my favorite cold weather "go to" things...

ONE
Swiss Miss Simply Cocoa
It is just 5 ingredients. It is DELICIOUS and warms you to the core on a cold day.

TWO
My Leopard Snuggie

I won this at one of my Christmas Cookie Sweet Swap's as a game prize.
I laughed a bit when I opened it but let me tell you, this thing is FANTASTIC!
I wrap myself up in it on the couch and I'm toasty warm.
(The cats love it too!)

THREE
Aruba Aloe Lotion
I picked up the lotion, aloe and burn gel when we were on our honeymoon in Aruba.
Let me tell you this, it is AMAZING stuff! Made right there on the island. Smells divine and makes the driest chappiest crackliest hands feel silky smooth.
I'm using mine sparingly because I only bought the small bottle but it works so great!
My in-laws are going back in April so I'm going to have them grab me another bottle.

FOUR
Blanket Scarves Galore!!!!
I know I'm mentioned them before but I can't help my love for them!

It's no secret that these bad boys keep you cozy warm when it's cold and possibly snowing like the last pic! (which I wasn't thrilled about) but I'm sure you could tell that from my face.
I got red & black one from: Tara Lynns
And my fall plaid one from: Accessory Concierge

FIVE
My Remote Start
Thanks to this sweet little remote, I can go from my warm house to my warm car!
And a special thanks to my friend Sean over at Automovite Elegance for installing this in my Camry when I got it. I've had a remote start in 3 cars now. And I honestly can't live without it. I got one for Ted for his Birthday about 2 years ago and HE loves his as well.
I have a little routine of starting my car right before I dry/do my hair and it's the perfect amount of time to warm it up and defrost a bit.
Because walking out from work to a car that looks like this, stinks!

Bonus:
SIX
Shay Shull one of my favorite bloggers..
of
....and her AMAZING story of adoption...
Like all of her other blog readers, I've been reading about her journey of adoption and I just love every bit of her experience. And sweet Ashby London couldn't have a more perfect family to join into. We are all anxiously waiting to hear more about miss Ashby and all the stories Shay will share with us!

Have a fabulous weekend everyone!
(3 days if you're lucky)

Mid-Month Confessions!

I am very excited to be linking up with Heather from Notes from the Nelsens today!
Heather's blog is one I started following a while ago and I just love her little family!
Check out her blog!

So for my mid-month confessions I figured I'd share a bunch of random things...

First off... I compiled a "list" if you will of 4 items I want.
I added up how much said items would cost and almost fell on the ground.
$550.00
FIVE HUNDRED FIFTY DOLLARS?!?!?!
FOR 4 ITEMS?!?!
I guess I have extremely pricey taste huh!?

There you have it.... (from top left clockwise:)

There it is. The hefty price tag for things I want...
After looking at this, I realized I need all none of them.
I reminded myself that we're saving for a house etc.
Told myself that $90 for a sweater is crazy and convinced myself to touch back upon this list if any of the things went on sale (unlikely)
Good girl, right?
WRONG
I impulse bought the Blardigan last night at like 9pm because I was freezing.
Seems about right don'tcha think??
It arrives Monday...
I'm not proud.
 :-)

The next....LAUNDRY! (and what I did in a pinch)

One of the things I said I wanted to work on for the New Year is getting a dang grip on my laundry because we just seem to accumulate SO much!
We had a house showing last week...
I had tons of laundry all sorted out on the floor of the den/laundry room...
Instead of doing it quickly because THAT wasn't happening, I put it all into 2 or 3 laundry baskets and shoved it into my car so the potential buyers wouldn't see it.
Now, when guests come by you can stick stuff like that in a room and shut the door, or in a closet, but when people interested in buying your home come, they open every single nook and cranny of the house. I had no other option.
So into the Camry in went.
#yougottadowhatyougottado

And my last confession for this post is a doozy...

My #1  "less than perfect" moment of the month award goes to...
Yodels..
Yup. Yodels.
I was at Shoprite picking up a few extra items I needed for my Chicken Florentine Pasta that I made... and saw Yodels.. you know....

No biggie right?? Yeah. That's what I thought.
I haven't had a Yodel since I was a kid....
So I scooped up a box.
And ate a package...
Then another...
In.One.Sitting.
In my car.
In the parking lot.
AND wanted another...
#ohMyLanta

I sound like some crazy sweets deprived maniac who's never had a greasy cream filled pre-packaged cake full of all kinds of artificial goodness before in my life! Not like its a huge deal, but I just felt like a total pig. Mind you this was after I ate a pork roll and cheese on a bagel because this was also the day I blogged about how good pork roll is
(especially paired on a bagel with cheese) Because...well...

See that folks... The epitome of health.  I'm not proud! Lol
BUT it gets better... because the next day when I was packing my bag for work, which contained fruit, my tea mug, oatmeal and a granola bar.... I threw these two bad boys in there because I'm a closet fatkid.
I'm not even going to read the ingredients or "nutrition" information because I know it's basically like eating fake chocolate covered oil and God only knows what else.
Once the box is gone, it's gone. I will NEVER impulse buy garbage again because CLEARLY I can't be trusted!

So there we have it. I'm not even sure I got the premise correct, but if not, I hop ya'll got a kick out of my not so perfect moments of the month.

Happy Thursday!
Friday Favorites tomorrow!

What's Cookin' Wednesday ~ Easy Shredded Chicken Tacos!

Shredded Chicken Tacos

Super SUPER easy and totally yummy!!!

Here is what you need:

1 Rotisserie Chicken
1 Package of McCormick Chicken Taco Seasoning
Taco Shells
Taco Fixin's

Boom - Done!

Seriously SoOooO easy & delicious!
Shred up your chicken and throw it into a medium/high skillet
Sprinkle on a tablespoon or so of water and then sprinkle on the seasoning.

Mix up well until your chicken is all flavored up.
( I used a package & a half because I like a lot of flavor)
*use as much or as little as you'd like*

Heat up your taco shells, hard or soft or both, and you're good to go !!
We ate theses with the following fixings: lettuce, salsa, guacamole, cheese & sour cream
But you can use whichever toppings you'd like
We also served it up with some yellow Spanish rice

When I originally was thinking about it I was going to cook up some chicken breasts and cut them into small chunks or something, but then this idea popped into my brain... so much easier! I promise you will love them if you love Tacos like we do!

Happy Wednesday Everyone!!
