Mid-Month Confessions - welcome baby

So my shower was Sunday and it was amazing. And I plan to share all the fun details as soon as I get a minute.

However.

On Sunday night, about an hour after going to sleep....my water broke....
4 weeks early.

Again, I'll share details later as i am typing this from my cell in the hospital.

But I will tell you this....

Our baby boy Austin was born at 4:06am on March 14th. He was 7lbs 2oz and 19" long. He's super healthy despite being early and we are both doing great!

We couldn't be happier.

Life Lately

These last few weeks of being pregnant are flying. I almost wish I could slow it down but it the same sense I can't wait to meet our baby boy! So here's a look at life lately...

Amen to this pic... I love me some pickles

This is what I'll be wearing to my shower. That's this weekend which I thought was kinda close to my due date, but we're good! I'll post pics of it on me next week!

I wore this Pink Blush dress again this past weekend to a baby shower. It's just so comfy and I love it. Different group of people so it was all good. Lol

The favors were so cute at the shower. The theme was elephants so there was peanuts around and brittle for the favors.

My brother came over to help my hubby put the crib together and he showed me all these pictures of my dad that he had. I had never seen this and it just makes me laugh. He had the best smile. This was in California when he went to help a friend get his car running.

Part of our nursery. After the shower I'll get everything finalized and share more pictures. But for now I'm loving going in there and sitting in the chair thinking about his arrival.

Basically how I feel most days...

I absolutely love this...how true.

And can we talk about meatball parm pizza. Oh. My. Gosh. It was amazing. Absolutely amazing.

We bought these little elephant dresser knobs for the sliding closet doors in the nursery and I put one on yesterday and just love it!

I went to Hobby Lobby yesterday with my girlfriend and got a few things. This frame is one of them and exactly what I was picturing for the A in the nursery. That will be on the wall this weekend too!

And for fun, I was looking through my albums on Facebook and just love this picture of us on our honeymoon in Aruba. This was a perfect day.

I sent this picture to my hubby and said it would be a perfect first Mother's Day present. I don't think he agrees. Haha #mamacandream

This was one of the first "belly" pictures I took. It was in a Kohls dressing room. I remember sending it to my best friend in Texas saying it was a maternity shirt or was going to buy and I was excited that I had a little belly....

Fast forward to 2 nights ago... Yowza!

Being pregnant has been amazing. Despite my complications and high risk, all is well and me and baby are doing great. I'll talk more about that after his safe delivery. I'm looking forward to this weekend and can't wait to share with y'all !

Friday Favorites: Baby Things....Opinions Welcome!

Linking up with the girls to share some favorites about baby...

I thought I'd share the things I've gotten so far that I just love.
And some things that I want...

ONE

I've mentioned before about my glider & ottoman from Babies 'R Us that I adore..

We got such a great deal on this - AND I just absolutely LOVE it.
Anyone have any opinions on chairs like there vs. the traditional rockers?

TWO

Pottery Barn Kids of course...
It's just so cute and I love the navy and the personalization!
I added it to my registry AND told my hubby that this would be a great gift from him
**hint hint**
I've read several reviews and people seem to love this bag.
I had originally wanted a Barrington diaper bag, but I actually like this one more.
Shocking. Seriously. I love ALL things Barrington...
But then again, I love all things PBK too!
Anyone have one of these?

THREE

Hobby Lobby for all things decorating!
I got the cutest sign for above the changing table from there.
Since my "pop" of color in the gray and white nursery is navy, this goes well!

I also picked up the letter of his first name, painted it navy and will frame it....
Something I saw on Pinterest a while back and loved.
Also, it's something that Joanna Gaines does on Fixer Upper in every house...
Look for it next time you watch!

You will see my finished product when I do the nursery reveal!

FOUR

All.Things.Elephant.

Oh my gosh the cuteness.
It doesn't help that HomeGoods, Marshalls and TJMaxx all have all these adorable gray and white elephant nursery accessories.

I may or may not have bought some of them....and gotten yelled at by my mom to stop buying myself stuff before my shower!
Oh well....

I just can't resist!
#GIMMEALLTHEELEPHANTS

FIVE

Baby Wraps!!
Now, I've never used one before, but I sure want to!
I registered for one that a friends wife told me about...

These are available at Babies 'R Us - and since I'm registered there, I added it to my registry.

Having been a reader of Heather's blog - Notes from The Nelsens - for a long time now, I saw her reviews of the wrap she uses and that is...

If I don't get the one I registered for I will most likely go for this one....
Either way, I definitely want a wrap.

SIX

I got this comfy outfit for the hospital and of course when I'm home.

I'm going to be in the hospital for about 3 days since I have to schedule a C-Section (more on that at another time) so I want something cute to wear when I have visitors. The tank is for nursing and the robe is super comfy and perfect to cover up with.

What products/items do you have or have you used that you think I just NEED and can't live with out?? I'm curious to see what everyone's favorites are!

~

So that is all for now...
I'm hoping to get the nursery situated and finalized over the weekend.
I have a baby shower on Saturday and a Baptism on Sunday.... but I plan for us to be productive at home regardless....
AND as if this weren't enough - we are re-listing our house on April 1st.
So we have a few other home things to get done!!

Have a great weekend friends!

What's Cookin' Wednesday ~ Chicken Quesadillas

Chicken Quesadillas

A couple of weeks ago I mentioned that I made chicken quesadillas and they were seriously amazingly delicious and super easy.

I made them for dinner and made rice and black beans with it.
This would be great as is for lunch.... or as a quick snack.

So here is the recipe and how you whip them together...

What You Need

2 Boneless, Skinless Chicken Breasts
2 Tablespoons Taco Seasoning
Butter for frying
Vegetable Oil for sautéing
1/2 medium onion sliced super thin
1/2 red pepper, sliced thin
1/2 green pepper, sliced thin
4-6 whole Small Flour Tortillas (fajita Size)
Grated Cheddar-Jack Cheese or whatever you fancy
Salsa, For Serving
Sour Cream, For Serving
Jalapeno Slices, For Serving

You of course can add or remove any of these items....but this is what I did.
Also, you can double the recipe if you need to feed more...

What You Do

Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over high heat. Sprinkle both sides of the chicken with taco seasoning. Add the chicken to the skillet and sauté over medium-high heat until done, about 4 minutes per side. Remove from the skillet, allow to cool slightly, shred or dice. Set aside.

In the same skillet over medium-high heat, throw in the onions and peppers and cook until the veggies are golden brown, 3 to 4 minutes. Remove and set aside.

Melt 1/2 tablespoon of the butter in a separate skillet or griddle over medium heat and lay a flour tortilla in the skillet. Build the quesadillas by laying a good amount of grated cheese on the bottom tortilla, and then arranging the chicken and cooked peppers on the cheese. Top with a little more grated cheese and top with a second tortilla.

When the tortilla is golden on the first side, carefully flip the quesadilla to the other side, adding another 1/2 tablespoon butter to the skillet at the same time. Continue cooking until the second side is golden.

Repeat with the remaining tortillas and fillings. Cut into wedges and serve with salsa, sour cream, jalapeno slices, and cilantro.

These were so so soooo yummy!!
I hope you make them and enjoy them soon!!

Happy Wednesday Folks!

Weekend Wrap Up

Happy Tuesday....
Man, the weeks are just flying by.
On Friday we stayed home and I made homemade pizza and garlic knots. Earlier, I had met up with my m for lunch on her break then went and did some shopping for her for an outfit to wear to Atlantic City that night. It was a success. Lol

I ended my night with a big ol' mug of ice cream....#preggo

My boys couldn't quite hang...but that's ok. They're both cute :)

Saturday morning we (Ted) assembled the cube for the baby's room and it's just as cute as I pictured.

My mom came by in the late afternoon and brought the changing pad holder thing for the top of the dresser. My dad made it for my brother when he had his oldest, so it's extremely special to me. As silly as it is being what it is, it's still special to have something made by him for our baby. My mom painted it white to match our dresser.

After we did a few other small things we kind of just chilled for a little bit and then we're deciding where to go for dinner. We decided to go to Applebee's because we'd seen a commercial for their burgers and they looked really good. So the three of us did just that, we all got burgers and they were delicious. After that my mom and I dropped Ted off to get some work done in the baby's room. He shampooed the carpet, and we went to Walmart for a few things.

When I came home, these two were pretending not to like each other...

Sunday morning, mom and I went to church and Ted move the furniture in the baby's room. We are almost done with his room and I just can't wait. Ted met me at my moms house and we took a long walk with Jake. It was so beautiful outside. Then we headed to the outlets to try to find me a dang pair of shoes.
I have been trying to find shoes for what seems like five years and I may not be too far off on that number. I ended up getting a pair of sketchers go walks 3.

I'm not sure if I love them yet. But I'll see.
After shopping we just hung out at my moms and then had dinner once my brother, his wife, and the kids got there.

I really didn't take too many pictures because I was really busy enjoying the weekend and the warm weather.

Here's a peek at what the nursery looks like so far....

His name is written on that little blue chalk board so I covered it up :)

34 weeks yesterday! It's almost baby time!! So excited!!
